Winter, Joseph (30 Mar 1852 - 5 Jan 1942)

Joseph Winter, 89, passed away at the Neillsville hospital on Monday, January fifth, where he had been a patient for little more than a week, having been ill only three days previously. Funeral services will be held at the Schiller Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Today (Thursday), the Rev.G.W Longenecker officiating. Interment will be in the Neillsville Cemetery. Mr. Winter was born in Indiana March 30, 1852, to Joseph Benjamin Levi and Magdalene (Stoner) Winter. When he was six years of age his parents came to Wisconsin, settling in Grant county. He came to Pine Valley fifty-nine years ago where he made his home until six years ago, moving to Columbia at that time far a two-year period and then came to Neillsville to reside. He was married to Mary E. Barnes in 1873. Five sons were born to them, three of whom preceded him in death. His wife died October 5, 1933. Surviving are the son, Eli, at home, and Julius of Dewhurst and a brother, John Wilson Winter, Kennan, Wis
