Waage, Rev. J. (14 Apr 1845 - 18 Feb 1913)

Rev. J. Waage, the Norwegian pastor, died Tuesday the 18th of Feb., at his home just north of the city (Neillsville, Clark County), of a complication of diseases.

He was born in Norway April 14, 1845. He came to America in 1874 and studied for the ministry at the Norwegian Lutheran Institution at Decorah, Iowa and at Madison, Wis. At the latter place he graduated in 1878, and has ever since, these 35 years, had his work as a minister in the Norwegian Synod, serving congregations at Prairie Farm, Bloomer, Sand Creek and Colfax. He came to Neillsville in 1908 and has since ministered to the Norwegian Congregation here and at Marshfield and Phillips.

The funeral will be held Thursday, Feb. 20th. Services will commence at the residence at 9 o’clock a.m. and at the Norwegian Church at 9:30 o’clock. Rev. Brandt of Neillsville and Rev. Saetvert of Colfax, will officiate. On the 11:30 train the remains will be taken to Sand Creek, Wis. for burial.
