Moore, Frank R. (12 Feb 1863 - 23 Sep 1922)

Frank R. Moore died at his home in Garden Valley last Saturday forenoon, after a long illness, during a part of which he was a great sufferer, aged 59 years, 7 months and 13 days.

Deceased was born Feb. 12, 1863 in the town of Sullivan, Jefferson Co., Wis., son of Robert and Lois Moore. Mr. Moore was one of a family of twelve children; nine boys and three girls. Six of these survive him, five brothers, of whom Dr. E. E. Moore of Merrillan is one, and one sister.

His boyhood days were spent in Jefferson Co., his education was received in the rural school and in the higher school at Rome village, near his home. On March 26th, 1890, he was united in marriage with Miss Alice Mathews, and they took up their residence in the town of Garden Valley, where he had started to open up a farm, which through the intervening years has been developed into one of the best in that section of Jackson Co. Mr. Moore is survived by his wife and eight children. Three of the children, Robert, Ralph, and Miss Ruth, are employed in Madison, and the remaining members of the family are at the home farm.

The remains were taken to Fort Atkinson Monday for burial. Funeral services were held in the M. E. Church in that city Tuesday afternoon, conducted by its pastor, Rev. C. A. Reetz, and the interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery in that city.

The death of Mr. Moore removes from this community one of its most respected and esteemed citizens. During a residence of more than thirty years in the Valley he formed many close friendships with neighbors and others with whom he came in contact in a business or social way. He was a loving husband and a kind and considerate father, whose memory will be fondly cherished in the home circle that now mourns his demise. A host of friends extend sympathies to the bereaved ones.
