Fire of unknown origin completely destroyed a 40 by 110-foot barn about 12:30
a.m., December 29, 1972 on the Vernon Boss farm, located west of Colby.
Destroyed in the blaze were 8 head of small stock and 9 cows, along with a milk
house….. Two nearby silos were also damaged. The blaze was noticed by two
neighbors, Bror Erickson and James Schoelzel, both of Curtiss.
Units from the Colby and Curtiss Fire Departments fought the blaze. The contents
