Wiesner, Caroline Paulina (6 Dec. 1832 - 2 Sept. 1922)

Mrs. Frederick Wiesner, Sr., one of the old residents of this locality, died at home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred Seif, Sr., Sept. 2, 1922, aged 98 (I think the age is a typo either in the newspaper or by the transcriber - should be 90) years, 8 months and 27 days.

Caroline Paulina Davidson, was born in Saxony, Germany, Dec. 8, 1832. When 10 years of age she came to America with her parents, who settled first in Washington County, Wisconsin. There she grew to womanhood and was married to Frederick Wiesner May 3, 1849. They moved to New London where they lived about 10 years, then came to the town of Rock, Wood County, living there 8 years, then moved to a farm a few miles west of Neillsville.

Eighteen years ago the husband died, since which time Mrs. Wiesner made her home most of the time with her daughter, Mrs. Seif. She was a woman well fitted for the pioneer life. She was not afraid of hard work and hardships. She knew how to manage the affairs of the home and family and devoted her life to it, yet in her younger days found time to be of help to friends and neighbors in time of need. To her and her husband were born 12 children, 10 of whom are living. George Wiesner of Neillsville; Carl of Lynn; Frank of Linsey, Montana; Fred of Pine Valley; Mary, Mrs. Fred Seif, of Neillsville; Christina, Mrs. C. G. Frantz of Pine Valley; Minnie, Mrs. Tim Mc Mahon of Mt. Pleasant, Mich.; Henrietta, Mrs. George Prock of Rice Lake; Margaret, Mrs. John Croasdale of International Falls, Minnesota; Caroline, Mrs. Sam Amidon of Hayward, Mont. She left also 54 grandchildren and 76 great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held at the Reformed church Tuesday, Rev. D. Grether officiating.

All the children except Mrs. Mc Mahon was here to attend the funeral.
