Stannard, John Daniel (19 Aug. 1846 - 23 Sept. 1922)

Clippings from a Wenatchee, Wash., paper, report the death of John Stannard, formerly of Neillsville. The following is taken from the paper quoted:

"Four hundred Masons attended the funeral services of John Daniel Stannard at the Presbyterian church Tuesday afternoon. The members of the order and friends and relatives had presented many floral pieces and these formed a bank of red, white and green at the foot of the speakers platform.

Rev. Frank E. Beatty delivered the funeral sermon. A Masonic service was conducted at the home of Peace Mausoleum where Mr. Stannard’s body was laid to rest. There were more Masons officially present at this funeral than at almost any other funeral that has ever been held here.

Mr. Stannard was a member of the Riverside Lodge, F. & A. M. ; Knights Templar: Order of Eastern Star; and Order of Amaranth.

John Daniel Stannard was born August 19, 1846, in New York state. He moved to Neillsville, Wisconsin, in 1870, and married Emma Eyerly October 20, 1875. By this marriage there were three children, Harry D., who died in infancy; Grace A., who died at the age of 16; and Frank R., who is living in Seattle. Mr. Stannard leaves a wife, the one son and a grandson, Robert Stannard.

Mr and Mrs. Stannard arrived here July 4, 1909 and Mr. Stannard became custodian of the Presbyterian church Feb. 1, 1910, and has held that position ever since. He joined the church on Easter Sunday, 1921.

After an illness of six days, he passed away Saturday evening, September 23, at the age of 76 years."
