Young, Annie (23 March 1858 - 13 April 1923)

Dr. Annie Young of Chicago died here April 13, at the home of her niece, Mrs. George Rude, where she had been staying for a few weeks past. She had recently been in poor health, and Mrs. Rude went to Chicago to care for her. After being there some time, Dr. Young decided to come to Neillsville with Mrs. Rude and remain here under her care.

Dr. Young, whose maiden name was Annie Postweiler, was born at Black River Falls March 23, 1858. She was a twin sister of Mrs. Rude’s mother, Mr. Peter Johnson’s first wife. About 35 years ago she was married to Dr. Julius Young of Chicago. She took a course in Medicine, graduating from Hahneman Medical College in Chicago and practiced with her husband. He died about 14 years ago, and she continued her profession as long as she was able, in fact she continued to do some work, and her office sign was not taken down until just before coming to Neillsville a few weeks ago. She had frequently visited here and was known to quite a large circle of friends here. She was a woman of talent and had done a most useful work in the world. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and occasionally visited the local Chapter on her visits here.

The remains were taken to Chicago for burial, brief funeral services being held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rude Saturday afternoon, Rev. G. W. Longenecker officiating, members of the Eastern Star being in attendance. Mr. and Mrs. Rude went with the remains to Chicago where the funeral was held under the auspices of the Chapter of which deceased was a member.
