Witt Greenhouse (1945 - 11 JUN 1985)

At 6:30 p.m. June 11, 1985, the firm known for forty (40) years as the Witt Greenhouse quietly passed away, bringing to an end the lifelong struggle with the vicissitudes of nature and the skepticism of various local financial institutions.

Memorial services were held On July 4. Honorary pallbearers included three grief stricken competitors turning in Oscar caliber performances, four saddened and grieving salesmen of greenhouse supplies and materials, two self pitying representatives of the gas and insurance companies (they could cry with a loaf of bread under each arm), six creditors dreaming the impossible dream, and a deadbeat self-styled Luther Burbank who will surely miss the firm.

The company is survived by Bobbie and George Witt who like to think they will be missed and would not care to hear otherwise. As usual with this company, no one was in charge after murdering two verses of "Where Have All the Flowers Gone", the mourners drifted off to one of the local taverns and is is said, put the establishment on its feet for the following three months.

The survivors suggest memorials to the "Save the Woodchuck Fund."

The survivors hold daily open house for coffee and small talk in continual celebration of business relationships that have, over the years, grown into very dear and precious friendships.
