Anderson, Augusta ( 11 Jan. 1867 - 18 June 1925)

This community was again greatly shocked Thursday afternoon, June 18, to learn that Mrs. Augusta Anderson had fallen dead in the street near her home. She had started across the street to tell a neighbor, Mrs. Vernum, about the sudden death of Mr. Anton Barton. She had just begun to tell Mrs. Vernum of this sudden passing away of their old neighbor, when she herself fell. Death appeared to come instantly. Except for the excitement of a neighbor’s sudden death, she seemed to be in excellent health, and her death came as a most unexpected shock to her family and friends.

Mrs. Anderson, whose maiden name was Augusta Erickson, was born at Saegermoen, Sweden, Jan. 11, 1867. She came to the United States in May, 1882 and made her home with an uncle and aunt at Blair, Wis., until May 1883, when she came here. She was married to August Anderson in Neillsville, Aug. 15, 1884. Her husband died Jan. 7, 1912.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church when a girl in Sweden, but joined the Congregational church in Neillsville and was one of its most faithful members and workers. She was a good wife and an ideal mother and one of the kindest and most helpful neighbors. She was much attached to her home and it surroundings and a great lover of flowers, which she raised in many varieties and great abundance, and was ever free and generous in giving them to others. Her life was that of a true and lovable Christian and is a worthy example to all who came in contact with her.

She leaves to mourn her death three sons and two daughters: Albert W. Anderson of Madison; Frank L. Anderson, River Falls; Elsie Anderson, Minneapolis; Mrs. Esther Rottjer, Loyal; Victor Anderson, Neillsville. All the children were here for the funeral. She also leaves six grandchildren.

Three sons and one daughter preceded her in death. She leaves also one brother, A. G. Erickson in Sweden and a half brother, August Anderson at Tuolumne, California.

The funeral was held at the Congregational church Sunday afternoon, Rev. G. W. Longenecker officiating. The members of the Golden Link Camp, R. N. A. of which Mrs. Anderson was a member, attended the funeral in a body.

Those present from away beside the children who attended the funeral were: Erick Fredrickson and Wife, Charles Fredrickson and wife and two sons, Frederick Fredrickson, Edw. Mattson, Mrs. Thompson , all of Blair, Wis., Ray Junkman and family of River Falls, Wis.; Nellie Seamonson, Stoughton, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. John Rottjer and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Allie Drake, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Brussow and Mr. Charles Brussow all of Loyal.
