Mrs. Wm. Gergen one of the older residents of Clark County died at her home in this city, July 4, after a lingering illness. Mrs. Gergen, whose maiden name was Elizabeth Bauchop, was born in Glasgow, Scotland, December 22, 1836; she was therefore in her eighty-ninth year at the time of her death. She came to America with her parents, when ten years of age. She was married in Racine to Wm. Gergen, Feb. 5, 1856, and lived in Racine County until 1868, when they moved to Clark County. They settled on a farm northeast of Neillsville, where they lived until about 25 years ago, when they moved into the city. Mr. Gergen died December 19, 1905, and Mrs. Gergen continued to maker her home there until her death. To them were born nine children: William, Mary, Emma, Maggie, Edwin, Ellwood, Grace, Alfred and Vernie, all of whom are living except William, who died when 9 years of age.

Mrs. Gergen was a good woman, a helpful wife and loving Mother. She was a member of the Methodist church, and her life exemplified her Christian faith.

The funeral was held at the home Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Wm. Walter officiating. The Womans Relief Corps of which deceased was a charter member, attended in a body and used their ritual ceremony at the grave.

Those from away who attended the funeral were, Mr. and Mrs. Francis F?long, Mrs. E. C. Lester, Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Sylvester, all of Minneapolis; Mrs. Earl and son, Eugene, Mrs. Morris Healy and son, Donald of Honey Creek, Mrs. Rush and daughter, Alice of Black River Falls.
