Lora Jester

Lora W. Jester, 93, Owen, fonnerly of Loyal, died Friday, April 30, 2004, at the Clark County Health Care Center, Owen. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 4, at the Missionary Baptist Church, Greenwood. The Rev. David Sommerfeld officiated. Burial was in the Loyal Cemetery.

Lora W. Hoffmann was born on May 17, 1910, in Fairchild, to Theodore O. and Mary T. (nee Thur) Hoffmann. She was raised in the Fairchild area and at age 13, moved to Wausau with her family. She completed her education in Wausau, where she attended Wausau High school and the County Normal School in Wausau. After completing her education, she worked at the Hotel Wausau as a chamber maid. She married Carroll Jester on Oct. 25, 1930, in Wausau. They lived in Brokaw fot a short time and then moved to her in-laws farm north of Wausau, where they farmed until 1941. They sold the farm and moved to Waukesha, where she worked for International Harvester during World War II. After the war ended, she worked at Waukesha Memorial Hospital until 1960. They then moved to Willard, where she worked at Stewart-Redville Dairy in Greenwood, until her retirement in 1971. After retiring, they moved to Loyal, where she resided until entering the Clark County Health Care Center in August, 2001. Her husband, Carroll, died on Nov. 20, 1981. Her interests included spending time with her family and friends, gardening, traveling, and Milwaukee Braves baseball.

She will be sadly missed by one son, Floyd Jester, Wales; two daughters, Lora Jean (James) Tillberry, Bagley, Minn., Sybil (Jim) Zallar, Willard; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Magdalena Wegner, Milwaukee.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Carroll Jester; three brothers, Reinhold Hoffmann, Rudolph Hoffmann, and Clarence Hoffmann; and two sisters, Dorothea Hoffmann, and Cora Senkbeil.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal, assisted the family with arrangements.
