Tykac, Mary (? - MAR 1929)

The people living at Columbia, Clark County, Wis. and surrounding country will be sad to learn that Mrs. Mary Tykac had died in Chicago, after an operation for stomach trouble. Mrs. Marie Tykac and her husband, Charles Tykac, have lived on a farm in Trow, 3 miles west of Columbia, which they have themselves developed from a wild piece of cut-over land. To all those that have gone through this ordeal of pioneering on a piece of wild land and struggling through all those handicaps, which are now a reminiscence, such as no highways, no vehicles for conveying and not even attempting to make comparison with the higher modern equipment of present life, those people who lived through this same era will best judge what has been endured.

Mrs. Tykac has been a very kind and accommodating lady to the whole neighborhood and nobody has ever gone from her home without being fed. Very often she had parties in her home; at times the Charles Tykac farm at Trow had been similar to a summer resort, but Mrs. Tykac felt not tired to serve upon them all.

Her untimely demise, for she was not aged, will be mourned by all those who have ever been in her home or known her at all.

The interment was made at the National Cemetery at Chicago on March 11.
