Anderson, Ellen (27 Apr 1871 - 25 Mar 1929)

Miss Ellen Anderson, for many years a resident of this city (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.), passed away at 12:20 a.m., Monday morning March 25, 1929, aged 57 years, 10 months and 28 days. She had been making her home for the past year with Mr. and Mrs. Nels Swanson, and has been in poor health most of the time, the past four weeks being confined to her bed.

Ellen Anderson was born in Norway, April 27, 1871, and came to this country with her parents in 1873. They settled on a farm near Blair, Wis., where Ellen lived until she was about twelve years of age, when she came to live with her sister, Mrs. C. C. Berg in the town of Fremont. She lived there four years and then came to Neillsville to work and remained here the rest of her life. She was cook and housekeeper in several private families and for many years was a noted hotel cook, later operating the Neillsville Hotel herself for several years. Her skill and efficiency in her work and her faithfulness in all things entrusted her to her care won for her the confidence and esteem of all who came in contact with her.

She leaves to mourn her death, three sisters: Mrs. C. C. Berg of Granton, Mrs. O. C. Berg in Canada, and Mrs. Martha Granlund of Blair.

The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Congregational Church, Rev. G. W. Longenecker officiating. Burial will take place in the Windfall Cemetery at Granton.
