Jessie Fisher

Jessie S. Fisher, 94, Loyal, formerly of Neptune, New Jersey, died at the Neillsville Memorial Home, Neillsville, on Tuesday, April 13, 2004. There will be no services held. Inurnment and graveside services will take place at Monmouth Memorial Park Cemetery, Neptune, New Jersey

Jessie S. Newman was born on July 16, 1909, in Manasquan, New Jersey, to Fredrick and Mary Francis (nee Cook) Newman. Her family moved to Newtown, Penn., where she was raised and received her education, graduating from Newtown High School. She then attended Trenton State Teachers College, Trenton, New Jersey, where she graduated as valedictorian of her class with a degree in music. She then studied for many years at the Philadelphia Conservatory of Music and was a concert violinist and composer. She had 28 compositions published. She studied one summer under conductor Fred Warring and also played with Albert Einstein at his home. She was a music supervisor at schools in Long Island, New York, and Neptune, New Jersey. She was a member of ASCAP. She married Charles K. Fisher on March 3, 1944. He preceded her in death on Nov. 4, 1987.

Survivors include her niece, Mary Jane Marine, Paradise. Calif.; her nephew, Thomas N. (Patricia E.) Shafto, Loyal; her great-nephews and nieces, Raymond Marine, Jr., Charles Marine and Robert Marine, all of California. Rev. Paul Marine, Omaha, Neb., Thomas G. Shafto, Loyal, Susan Lindner, Loyal, and Patricia Carlson, Marshfield; and 19 great-great-nephews and nieces.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Charles; and two sisters, Margaret Newman Shafto and Frances Hughes.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal, assisted the family with arrangements.
