The Rev. John Puerner

THORP - The Rev. John William Puerner, 75, of Thorp died Aug. 2, 2004, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church, with a combined Knights of Columbus and parish rosary service at 7:30 p.m.

He was born Dec. 14, 1928, in Wausau to Wallace and Agnes (Tetzlaff) Puerner. He was ordained May 14, 1955, at Holy Cross Seminary, Christ the King Chapel, La Crosse. He was assigned to St. Hedwig's Parish in 1971. St. Bernard and St. Hedwig parishes were combined in 1974, and he served the combined parish until his death.

The Rev. Puerner is survived by his sister, Joan Puerner, Wausau.
