Sylvia Belle (Laurent) (accent on second syllable) Harth 1909 - 1989

Memorial service was held October 15 (1989) for 80 year (woman) residing in Spirit township of Price County, who died Monday 9 October.

She was born 6 May 1909 in Thorp; graduated from Stanley High school and UW-River Falls; did graduate work at University of New Mexico.

She married Rev. Dr. Charles Harth in Hong Kong in 1950 (who died 1968). In early years she taught school in Clark county: 1942-50 English at Thorp High school, and 1950-68 resided with her husband in Maryland and taught English in Baltimore High school, retiring after her husband died to live with a brother (Eugene), first in Anchorage, Alaska and then in Price County, until her death. Was a member of United Methodist church in Spirit township.

The family requests any memorials be sent to Stanley Historical Society or to her church.

Survived by a nephew Professor Jerome K. Laurent of Whitewater; a niece Mrs. Gordon (Joyce) Norlin of Manitowoc; a sister-in-law Mrs. Grace Laurent of Chippewa Falls; plus grand nephews and nieces, and cousins.

She was preceded by parents (Frank, Dec 1914 and Margaret (Oesau) 30Jan1870-1950) Laurent), husband, 3 brothers Francis, Arthur, and Eugene; and 2 sisters Margaret and Eleanore.
