Baker, George (2 JAN 1850 - 25 NOV 1929)

George Baker, one of the earliest settlers of the town of Thorp, Clark County, Wis., died of paralysis at his home in Stanley, on Monday, Nov. 25, 1929. He was born in Berlin, Germany on Jan. 2, 1850, and thus had reached the age of nearly eighty years. At the age of six years he came to this country with his parents. On April 9, 1874, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Albright at Mauston, Wis., and in 1876 settled on a farm three miles west of this village. He leaves to mourn, his aged wife, three daughters, Mrs. James Notman of Stanley, Mrs. Charles Brady of Curtiss and Mrs. Martin Klahn of Lublin, and four sons, Frank Louis, Lester and Floyd, the latter a resident of Minneapolis, also a half-brother, Cline Cradle of Stevens Point, eighteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral took place at the Presbyterian Church at Stanley on Wednesday, Revs. L. R. Giraulx and Blish officiating, and interment in Forest Hill Cemetery.
