Searles, James (12 April 1866 - 19 Jan. 1930)

James Searles died at his home in the town of Washburn, Saturday, Jan. 19, aged 63 years, 9 months and 7 days.

Mr. Searles was born in the town of Marshland, Richland County, April 12, 1866. He grew to manhood there and followed farming, coming to this county about 30 years ago. His first wife died many years ago; on March 9, 1895 he was married to Miss Julia Hanson, who survives him. To them were born eleven children; Mrs. Bertha Goldsmith of Merrillan, George Searles of Shortville, Mrs. Margaret McLean, Mrs. Lena Johnson and Mrs. Gladys Seltrecht all of Milwaukee; Mrs. Herbert Free of Neillsville; Minnie, Edna, Hubert, Alice and Harold all at home. James William , a son by his first marriage lived at Duluth.

Mr. Searles had not been in good health for many years and since last July was just able to be about the house. He was a man of good principles and well liked by all who knew him.

The funeral will be held this Wednesday afternoon at the Lowe Funeral Home.
