Headline: Mrs. Chas Sanger Answers Call

Pioneer of Faulk County laid to Rest Sunday afternoon- Came to South Dakota Forty-five years ago.

Dora Johanna Knoll was born in Polnisch Hammer, Germany, November 28, 1866. When 24 years of age she came with her brother Henry to America. They landed in Baltimore, Maryland, November 22, 1890. She was married to Charles Sanger near Neillsville, Wisconsin, February 16, 1891. In March Mr. Sanger brought his bride to South Dakota where they have live for nearly forty-five years. Nine children came into their home, Martin passing from this life at the age of 18 months; Ernest, having served his country in the World War, prepared for the ministry, was drowned July 15, 1920.

Mrs. Sanger was confirmed in the German Lutheran church of Germany. Here she became a member of the Grace Methodist Episcopal Church at Rockham. Every day in home and community Mrs. Sanger endeavored to live the life of a good woman. Faithful to her companion and her children. She possessed the characteristics of courage, cheerfulness, hope, and stewardship.

On Tuesday of last week she entered the Redfield hospital for a critical operation. Apparently she was recovering nicely until etherial pneumonia set in and she passed from this life Friday morning, July 5th, at the age of 68 years, 7 months, and 7 days.

Mrs. Sanger will long be remembered by her devoted husband, three daughters, Mrs. William Grottke of Granton, Wisconsin, Mrs. Merle J. Hancock of Redfield and Mrs. Walter Sorenson of Pisgah, Iowa, four sons, Walter, William, Carl, and August, all of Rockham, twelve grandchildren, brother Henry of Granton, Wis., and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon. A short service was conducted at the home and at two-thirty services were held from the M.E. church, Rev. R. M. Miller of Redfield and Rev. J. S. Palmer were in charge of the services. The Buss quartet sang three consoling numbers, "He Hideth Me", "Face to Face" and "Abide with me". Rev. Miller preached a comforting sermon and spoke feelingly of the devotion and love the deceased had for her husband and children. She was held in the highest respect by her friends and neighbors.

The floral offerings were many and beautiful which bespoke the esteem in which she was held. The pall bears were chosen from close friends and the following assisted: John Stapp, John Becker, Fred Belau, Frank Buss, David Stapp and Wm. Corkins. Interment was made in the Rockham Cemetery. The following relatives from out of town attended the funeral: Mrs. William Grottke and son David of Granton, Wisconsin; Mrs. and Mrs. Walter Sorenson of Pisgah, Iowa; Mr. Henry Knoll and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Knoll, Jr. of Granton, Wisconsin; Mrs. Milton Hawley of Greenwood, Wisconsin; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Eide of Neillsville, Wisconsin and Mr. Ernest Sanger of Granton, Wisconsin
