Mrs. James Dunn died at her home in Garden Valley on Wednesday, March 17th, after several months’ illness from a stroke of paralysis. The funeral services were held in the Valley, Saturday, March 20th, and were conducted by Rev. B. C. Sills, of the Merrillan Methodist church. The interment was in the family lot in the Garden Valley cemetery. There was a large attendance of relatives and old friends at the funeral services, signifying the esteem by which the deceased was held by those who had known her from pioneer days. Nine sons and daughters are left to mourn her death, , Jos., of Merrilan, Ed, of Rice Lake, Ets, Murt, Harve and Amy, of Burnett county, Fred and Eva, of Garden Valley, and Henry, of Houghtonburg. Her husband died about two years ago. Mrs. Dunn was numbered among the old settlers, those who came about civil war time and before. The ranks of the pioneers is fast thinning, and it will not be long ere the last one will be laid away. It is fitting that we pause to pay due homage to each and every one and express appreciation for the heritage they have left behind.
