Woodin, William H. (25 Apr 1850 - 16 Sep 1925)

(The Times -- Junction City, Oregon)

William Henry Wood was born April 25, 1850, on a farm in Dodge County, Wis. He moved to Clark County, Wis. in 1893, moved to Franklin, Oregon in 1917. He married Elsie Cook Aug. 11, 1905. There was born to this union four children, Velma Mae, William Filmar, Janice Arvilla and Viola Belle, all of who with his wife survive him. He was a firm believer in God and Bible as His reveled word. In his last years failing eyesight prevented him from reading the Bible much himself, but it was his custom to hear the Bible read to him by members of his family.

He was a strong advocate of the observance of moral law. And while not affiliated with any church, he had profound faith in the promises of god and Jesus Christ the Savior of men. He was a man of strong integrity of character. He was noted for his punctilious honesty in financial matters. His family life was ideal. He was very positive about strict observance of the Sabbath. He was a good neighbor and loyal to his friends.

He passed away Sept. 16, 1925 at his home in Franklin at the age of 65 years, 4 months and 22 days. His passing out of this life is mourned by all who knew him. The community has lost a citizen of sterling Christian Character.

The funeral services were held at the Christian Church in Franklin, Monday, Sept. 21st at 2 p.m. Rev. H. M. Brenham, Pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church South, preached the sermon to a large congregation of neighbors and friends. His body was laid to rest in the Franklin Cemetery to await the resurrection of the just. May God bless the bereaved family.
