Jenks, Marie E. (1 DEC 1847 - 10 Jan 1918)

MRS. GEORGE JENKS CALLED BY DEATH

Mrs. Marie Elizabeth Jenks, whose maiden name was Millard, was born December 1st 1847 in the state of Pennsylvania. When two years old she came with her parents to Oakland, Jefferson County, Wisconsin. On March 16, 1886 she was married to George Jenks and lived with him on a farm in Aztalan, Jefferson County, Wisconsin for 29 years. They then moved to Lake Mills, where they lived for 13 years. During the last 7 years of her life she lived at Loyal, Clark Co. Wisconsin.

Mrs. Jenks had enjoyed very good health until four weeks ago, when she was taken ill and died at the hospital in Marshfield on Jan. 10th, 1918, having attained the age of 70 years, 1 month and 9 days. She had three sons and one daughter. Her oldest son, John Kneeland, preceded her in feath by about seven years. She in survived by her husband, two sons, Romeyn M. and Arthur H. both of Loyal, Wisconsin, and one daughter, Mrs. Carrie Austermann of Waco, Texas. Besides these she is survived by nine grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. A. Hopson of California, and a brother, Mr. Harry Millard of Loyal, Wisconsin.

The death of Mrs. Jenks came as a shock to her many friends here and while it was known that she was seriously ill, yet she had passed through the operation all right and seemed to be on the gain, so her death comes as a sad affliction to her husband and children, who have the sympathy of all.

The deceased was a woman of generous impulses, always ready to lend a helping hand in time of need. The funeral services were held at the Methodist Church this [Thursday] afternoon at 2 o’clock, Rev. E. E. Strevey officiating, and interment was in the Loyal Cemetery.
