ANOTHER PIONEER PASSES AWAY AT HER HOME IN THIS CITY MONDAY

Mrs. Henry Sitts died at her home in this village Monday morning, Feb. 18th after a few weeks of illness at the age of 73 years, 4 mo., and 12 days.

Elizabeth Olive Kellogg was born in Stuben Co., New York, Oct. 6, 1844, where she lived until 1848 when she moved with her parents to Calumet Co. and later to Dodge Co.

On Oct. 6th 1864 she was united in marriage to Henry Sitts at Iron Ridge, Dodge Co., coming the same month to their homestead north east of Loyal where she lived until seven years ago, when they moved to this village.

She leaves to mourn her loss, her aged husband one son, Charles Sitts of Neptune, Richland Co., five daughters, Mrs. Clara Arndt, Shields, N. Dak., Mrs. Ellen Coon and Mrs. Flora Vogel of Loyal, Mrs. Annie Hattery, Lone Rock, Richland Co. and Mrs. Edna Cona of Beaver, one son dying in infancy. Besides these she leaves nineteen grand- children and two great-grandchildren. It can be truly said that the deceased was one of the pioneers of this vicinity as well as Clark Co. coming to Dodgeville 53 years ago and settling upon a homestead with her husband when this country was a wilderness, and when settlers were few and far apart. She was of a loving disposition and a great lover of home, but of a quiet and retiring nature.

The funeral services were held at the Methodist Church at 1 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, Rev. E. E. Strevey officiating. She was laid to rest in the Dodgeville cemetery. The family have the sympathy of all in their bereavement.
