Retta, Ida (Marriage - 31 Aug. 1930)

A very pretty wedding took place at the Zion Lutheran church, Maple Works, August 31, when Miss Ida Retta became the bride of Rev. Harry Kriefall at 2:30 in the afternoon. The church where the ceremony was performed was decorated with flowers. The rooms were decorated in green and white.

The Rev. V. M. Keiper, pastor of the Congregation, officiated at the nuptial service. Rev. Carl Hoeh played the wedding music, using the bridal chorus from Lohengrin as a processional and Medelsohn’s wedding march as the recessional. The church quartette sang the twenty-third psalm. The bride was attired in a beautiful gown of white satin with chantilla lace, a silk embroidered long tulle veil with a jeweled head band. She carried a shower bouquet of roses and sweet peas; her sister, Miss Emma, who attended as maid of honor, was dressed in green georgette, carrying a bouquet of red roses. Miss Clara Retta, a sister of the bride, wore pale pink georgette; Miss Ruth Bartz, a friend of the bride, wore pale blue georgette; their bouquets were gladiolus.

The groom was attended by his brother, Walter Kriefall of Shawano. Both gentlemen were dressed in blue suits.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Retta in the town of York. The table waitresses were Miss Leona Hahm, Miss Alma Schlinsog, Miss Florence Garbisch, Miss Anna Reich, all being dressed in white.

The bride is the second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Retta.

The groom is a graduate of Concordia Theological seminary, at Springfield, Ill., and was ordained as pastor last June. Three years ago he served one year as student pastor to the Rev. V. W. Keiper, at Maple Works.

He has been assigned as pastor of the Lutheran Congregation of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and will also serve a Mission Parish.

Outside guests were: The groom’s parents of Shawano; two of the groom’s uncles from Shawano; Mr. and Mrs. Wolle and family from Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Kriefall, Shawano; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Harhn and child.

Many beautiful and useful wedding gifts were received.

The bridal pair left Monday for Shawano to visit the groom’s parents and left Saturday for Idaho.
