Blaney, Lewis Roland (6 Aug. 1920 - 26 Oct. 1997)

Lewis Roland Blaney, 77, 2122 36th St., Kenosha, Wis. Passed away on Oct. 26, 1997 Valley Lutheran Hospital, Mesa, Ariz.

Funeral services were held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30, 1997 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Neillsville. The rev. Timothy Biebert was the officiant. Burial was in Neillsville City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Wilmer Kroll, Wayne Opelt, George Thoma, Herbert Kurth, James Riel, and Louis Dux. The body lay in state at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Lewis was born Aug. 6, 1920 in Chicago, Ill., to Gertrude (Breitenbach) Blaney. He married Lydia Schoenherr on Dec. 19, 1942 in Chicago. She was a graduate of Farnsworth Grade School, and attended Lane Technical High School for two years.

After his education Lewis was employed by Guardian Electric in Chicago, as a supervisor. He met his wife at Guardian. He then joined in the U. S. Army during W. W. II serving in the European Theater. After his military service, he returned to Guardian for a short time before moving to Neillsville in the late 1940’s and farmed. He moved to Kenosha 3 -½ years later and became a carpenter. He retired in 1`981 and returned to Neillsville in 1985.

Lewis was a member of the International Brotherhood of Carpenters Union for 40 years; was a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, was a business agent for Carpenters & Joiners Union 161 in Kenosha for 11 -½ years. He was a diehard Chicago Cub’s and Bear’s fan, enjoying fishing and loved his family.

He is survived by his wife, Lydia, three sons: Larry (Marlene) of Union Grove, Wis., Lon of Kenosha, Lyndell of Denver, Colo.; one daughter, Lisa (Pastor Paul) Ibisch of LaCrescent, Minn., and six grandchildren.

Rinka Fuenral Home, Loyal, assisted the family with arrangements.
