Soderberg, John "Jack" (7 Oct. 1930 - 11 Nov. 2004)

w/flag John "Jack" Soderberg, 74, Thorp, passed away Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004, under the loving care of his family and hospice services from Saint Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at the American Legion Hall in Plano, Ill. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your local Hospice Unit, or the nearest veteran's hospital.

The friendship and love of Jack will always be a source of inspiration for the many lucky souls who knew him.

There will never be an end to the effect John "Jack" Soderberg had on those who knew him. The pride he felt for his family was as strong as his encouragement and love.

Jack was born Oct. 7, 1930, in Aurora, Ill. He graduated from Plano High School in 1948. He volunteered to serve his country in the United States Air Force as a weather technician on a modified B29 during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he married the love of his life - Katy Tenerelli - on Feb. 19, 1955.

A wide range of interests guided his life. He had been a farmer and a truck driver but most of his joy came from helping friends and family. Jack had an uncanny ability to spot a four-leaf clover when no one else could, and he was always ready for a new adventure.

He is survived by wife, Katy Soderberg; daughter, Kathleen (Russ) Decker, Schofield; and son, David (Sherri) Soderberg, Pittsville. He is also survived by four grandsons, Jeremy Decker, Hattiesburg, Miss., Jeff (Amber Foley) Decker, Stevens Point, Keith Soderberg, Marshfield, and Jon Soderberg, Pittsville; great-grandson, Aidin Decker, Stevens Point; four sisters, Betty Hansen, Grand Junction, Colo., Lorene Frieders, Yorkville, Ill., Barbara (Chuck) Cook, Dixon, Ill., and Judy Wilson, Aurora, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by parents, Roy and Viola Soderberg, Bristol, Ill.

The family would like to thank Saint Joseph's Hospice for their kindness and excellent care.

Services entrusted to the Cremation Society of Wisconsin, 715-834-6411.
