Catherine Fischer

Catherine M. Fischer, 99, a former Loyal and Pittsville resident, died at 7:55 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at the Colonial Center, Colby. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Loyal. The Rev. Roman Kaiser will officiate. The burial will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Marshfield. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Home in Marshfield and from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the church in Loyal.

Catherine was born on Nov. 1, 1905, in Pierre, S.D., the daughter of Peter and Cecelia (Fritza) Brusky. She came to Wisconsin as a child with her parents. She married George Fischer, Jr., on May 6, 1934, at St. John's Catholic Church in Marshfield. He died on Oct. 7, 1982. After their marriage the Fischers farmed in Loyal from 1934 until 1965. They then moved to Pittsville where she resided until May 25, 2001, when she moved to Marshfield and resided at Deerview Meadows Assisted Living until entering the Colonial Center on Aug. 5, 2003.

She was a former member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Loyal, and St. Joachim's Catholic Church, Pittsville, and their altar societies. She had also served as a lay minister at St. Joachim's. She had been a generous blood donor. Her personality was reflected by the nickname "Chuckles."

She is survived by three children, Sister Janet A. Fischer, FSPA of Claxton, Ga., George A. (Merry) Fischer of Loyal, Charles M. Fischer of Little Chute; and a daughter-in-law, Virginia Fischer of Loyal. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Steven Fischer, Carrie (Tony) Martinez, Amy (Kevin Brown) Fischer, Janet C. Fischer, Lisa Fischer, Brian Fischer, Melanie (Ken) Haen, and Michelle Lang. She is further survived by nine great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; an infant daughter, Rita in 1938; a son Donald; and seven brothers and sisters.
