Voelker, Martha (April 11, 1974 - Dec 1944)

Mrs. William Voelker, 70, who became ill Sunday and was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, Tuesday, died there at 3:20 a.m. today, the result of a complication of ailments.

Mrs. Voelker, the former Martha Sievert, was born in Manitowoc County April 11, 1874, and was married to William Voelker March 6, 1892, in the Town of Coleman, Manitowoc County. Twelve years later they moved to Colby and came to Spencer eight years ago. Mr. Voelker was a butcher before his retirement.

Surviving besides Mr. Voelker are four children, Mrs. William (Agnes) Schorer, Colby; Alvin Voelker, Chili; Edwin Voelker, Spencer; and Walter Voelker, Marshfield; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Another daughter died. A brother, Herman Sievert, resides at Marinette.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon at 1:45 o’clock at the Swarthout Funeral Home, where the body is lying in state, and at 2 o’clock at Trinity Lutheran Church, of which she was a member. The Rev. A. C. Stapel will officiate a the rites, and burial will be made in the Colby cemetery.
