Becker, Fred (19 MAY 1864 - 8 Jan 1948)

Loyal, Clark County, Wis. - Fred Becker, 83, a farmer in the town of Beaver since 1892, died at 2:30 o'clock this morning at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, where he had been a patient since Dec. 15. A heart ailment caused his death.

Mr. Becker was born in Germany May 19, 1864, and came to the U. S. in 1891, settling in Milwaukee. He was married there Feb. 7, 1892, to Minnie Tetzloff, who preceded him in death Aug. 15, 1942. They had observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1942.

While in Milwaukee Mr. Becker was a bricklayer for three years. After farming in Rib Lake for nine months, he came to Clark County to farm. Up until 1939 he farmed, and then became owner and proprietor of the Atwood Dance Hall and Tavern.

Surviving are a son, Otto Becker, route 1, Unity; two daughters, Mrs. Albert (Elsie) Schuh, route 2, Colby, and Mrs. Roy (Mamie) Thompson, Minneapolis; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Another son, Paul, died Feb. 15, 1947.

The body will lie in state at the central Wis. Co-operative Funeral Home in Marshfield from Friday noon until Saturday morning, when it will be taken to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church at Green Grove to lie in state from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 o'clock.

The Rev. M. C. Goetsch will be the officiating clergyman and burial will be made in the church cemetery.
