Obit: Exner, Joseph (1867 - 1941)

Joseph Exner, 73, a retired cabinet maker and longtime resident of Wisconsin Rapids, died at his home on Sunday.

He was the father of Chief of Police R J Exner and Officer Frank Exner of the Wisconsin Rapids police department.

Mr. Exner was born in Harmann-Steiffen, Bohemia. Sept. 5, 1867, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Exner. He came to this country in 1900, moving to Colby. He was married at Colby to Theresa Bugmeir on Feb. 23, 1901. The couple moved to Wisconsin Rapids in 1909.

Mr. Exner's widow and six children survive. Besides the sons here, the children are: Theodore, of Camp Davis, Wilmington, North Carolina; Mrs. Albert Podawiltz, of Wisconsin Rapids; Emma, of Milwaukee, and Herbert, of Oahu, Hawaii.

Funeral services will be held at SS Peter and Paul Catholic church, with burial in Calvary cemetery. Krohn and Berard mortuary is assisting the family.
