Arneson, Amund (10 APR 1850 - 8 OCT 1924)

Amund Arneson died at Westfir, Oregon, Oct. 8, 1924, of an illness, resulting from rheumatism from which he had suffered for years. The remains were brought to Curtiss, Clark County, Wis. and funeral services were held at the Norwegian Lutheran Church northwest of Curtiss, where interment was made.

Amund Arneson was born in Norway, April 10, 1850 and was 74 years, 5 months and 28 days at the time of death.

He came to the United States when he was twenty one years old. Feb. 3, 1885, he was united in marriage to Mattie Rasmusson and they came to Curtiss to live on a farm near that village.

Six children were born to them, four of them, John, Albert, Melvin, and Estella live in Minneapolis, Clara, who is married, lives at Westfir, Ore., and Louis at Stevens Point.

The Arneson lived on their farm for thirty years, then about ten years ago they moved to Abbotsford. About five years ago, Mr. Arneson had the restaurant now occupied by Mr. Keller, but he soon left it and went to cook for a lumber company. On the 29th of April, Mr. and Mrs. Arneson went to Minneapolis to visit their children. They remained at the home of their son, Albert, until about the middle of June, when they, accompanied by Estella, went to Westfir, Ore., to visit Clara and family. Estella, after a visit, returned to her duties at Minneapolis, but her parents remained in Oregon.

Mr. Arneson didn't seem to have any special ailment besides rheumatism, but he gradually grew weaker until there dawned for him another day, where frailties are laid aside and all is joy and peace.

A kind friend and neighbor, and who can wish for anything better to be said of one.

He has a host of Abbotsford and Curtiss friends who join us in offering condolence.
