Torger Larson Eckdahl, who passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry Zielke, in the town of Little Black, last Friday, Aug. 7th, 1925, following an extended illness with cancer of the stomach, was born near Stavanger, Norway, July 23rd, 1858, where he grew to manhood's estate.

At the age of 22 years he came to the United States, locating at Chicago. On Feb. 18th, 1892 he was married to Miss Mary Peterson, also a resident of Chicago, and after a residence there of twenty-five years, Mr. Eckdahl purchased a farm in the town of Deer Creek and moved his family into northern Wisconsin. Some three years later he moved to another farm three miles west of Little Black where Mrs. Eckdahl died in 1916. Three years later, or in 1919, he purchased the Frank Skerbeck farm in the village of Dorchester, Clark County, where they lived until he sold the farm last year. Since then he has been making his headquarters at his daughter's home, being confined to his bed the last few months.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Zielke home and Holway Lutheran Church, of which he was a member, Rev. Hilleman of Medford officiating. The pallbearers were John and Ole Johnson, John and Ansel Fleischman, Fred Zielke and Arnold Nelson, and interment was made in the Holway Church Cemetery.

He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Olaf Ibsen, Chicago, and one living in Norway; four daughters, Mrs. Charles Rickaby, Medford, Mrs. Eric Mehner, Minneapolis, Mrs. Ansel Paulson, Dorchester, Mrs. Henry Zielke, Little Black; three sons, Elmer, Chicago, and George and Norman at home; two step-sons, Arthur Johnson, Chicago, Ed Johnson, Cleveland, Ohio; and nine grandchildren, all of who were able to be present at the funeral with the exception of Mr. Johnson of Cleveland, Ohio, and the sister in Norway, the youngest son died in infancy.

Mr. Eckdahl was interested in things at home more than those of the world, but he enjoyed chatting with friends and always did his part, too, for he had seen many interesting things, told them well, adding a little spice once in a while that always got a laugh from his listeners. Only pleasant thoughts enter when thinking of him. The Clarion extends condolence.
