ESTHER C STERNITZKY

Esther Sternitzky, age 91, of Granton, died Saturday, Sep 11, 2004 in the Palliative Care Unit of St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

Esther Catherine Sternitzky was born on May 8, 1913 in Globe, the daughter of Theodore and Ida (Scheel) Kalsow. She attended school in Globe and then began working at the Neillsville Bakery. She worked there for a few years and then was united in marriage to Herbert Sternitzky on March 23, 1936 in Globe. After their marriage they worked on a farm just east of Neillsville for a short time. Later, they rented a farm in the town of Grant, and eventually they purchased their own farm in the Town of Lynn. The day they moved onto their own farm was the day Pearl Harbor was attacked. Esther spent her time lovingly raising her family and working on the farm. Esther loved her family and they were very important to her. She also loved children very much.

She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod in Granton.

Esther is survived by her children, Ernie (Rhoda) Sternitzky, of Granton; Bonnie (Dan) Boyum, of Inver Grove Heights, MN; Barbara (Dale) Teter, of Granton; and Betty (Jeff) Baxter, of Columbus. Esther is also survived by ten grandchildren, Steve Baxter, David (Shelley) Baxter, Tim (Tanya) Sternitzky, Kari (John) Canfield, Nicholas Sternitzky, Chad Sternitzky, Brian (Brenda) Teter, Brad Teter, Matthew Boyum and James Boyum. She is further survived by a granddaughter-in-law, Michelle Boyum; four great-grand-children, Austin Teter, Mitchell Baxter, Emma Baxter, and Haley Sternitzky; a sister, Clara (John) Haag, of LaCrosse; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Esther was preceded in death, by her husband Herbert, one grandchild, Michael Boyum and one great-grandchild, Devon Baxter.

Funeral Services for Esther were held Tuesday Sept. 14, at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod in Granton. Pastor John Trewyn officiated. Music was provided by a nephew, Tom Haag organist, Gayland Hendrickson, soloist; and Ben Hendrickson and Sarah Brown performing a duet. Interment was in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.
