Hold Rites Today for James Hayden

Stroke Causes Death of Town of Fremont Resident, 79, Friday

West Fremont--Funeral services were conducted this afternoon for James Hayden, 79, who had a stroke last Monday and died Friday afternoon at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Hayden.

Services were held at 1:30 o'clock at the Gilbertson Funeral home, Granton, and another service at 2 o'clock at Immanuel Evangelical Church, Chili.

Mr. Hayden was born July 29, 1862, at Exeter, near Albany, to Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hayden. Before coming to Clark county where he had been a resident of Fremont township for six years, Mr. Hayden and his family had lived in Wood County. He was married March 3, 1885 in Green County to Anna Augusta Smith, who preceded him in death Nov. 7, 1941.

Surviving are two sons: Wesley of Chili and Harry of Austin, Minnesota, two daughters: Mrs. Keith (Byrdie) Curtiss, Bay City Texas, and Mrs. Lee (Katie) Neuenswander, of Marion Iowa, 25 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
