WILLIAM H HANSEN
William Harold Hansen, age 73, of Neillsville, died Sat. April 17, 2004, in the Memorial Nursing Home in Neillsville.
William Hansen was born on Sept. 30, 1930 in Peppin County, the son of William and Mattie (Minsaas) Hansen. When Bill was a young child his family moved to the area and he attended school in Neillsville and Greenwood. After his schooling he worked with his father, doing masonry work, then enlisted into the United States Army and served in the Korean War. Upon returning from the service, Bill worked at various jobs in the Neillsville area. He was united in marriage to Lilly Mae Bohman on Oct. 16, 1954 in Neillsville. For the past fifteen years, Bill fixed lawn mowers. He was a member of the Haugen-Richmond American Legion Post #73.
Surviving Bill is his wife, Lilly; three sons, William Hansen of Phoenix, AZ; Gordon (Debra) Hansen of Neillsville and Kelly (Roberta) of Greenwood; his mother, Mattie Hansen of Neillsville; three step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; five brothers, Richard (Charlene) Hansen of Tomah; Harold (Mona ‘Dolly') Hansen of Spencer; Carroll Hansen of Abbotsford; Dennis Hansen of Marshfield; and James Hansen of Spencer; six sisters, Virginia (Wesley) Kuehn of Neillsville, Mildred (Ray) Kopinski of Boyd, Arlene Kopinski of Osseo, Mickey Oestrich of Marshfield, Marlene (George) Heinzen of Marshfield and Mavis Sage of Neillsville.
Preceding Bill in death is his father, William Hansen, Sr., a brother, Ronald Hansen and infant daughter, JoAnn Hansen.
Funeral services for Bill were held Tuesday, April 20, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Pastor Douglas Bjerke officiated. Interment was in the Neillsville City Cemetery with Military Rites accorded by the Neillsville Veterans Council.
Casket bearers were: Harold Hansen Jr., Jerry Hansen, Dale Kubaskie, Carl Nemitz, Dale Pflughoeft and Arnie Thur.
The Gesche Funeral Home assisted William's family with funeral arrangements.
