Farning, Leona (Marriage - 22 Sept. 1932)

Miss Leona Farning, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Farning of this city, was united in marriage Sept. 22 at 9 a.m. to William Hughes of Milwaukee, Rev. Peter F. Weber performing the ceremony in St. Mary's church.

Miss Farning, who graduated from the Neillsville High School in the class of 1923, has been deputy county treasurer for the past six years where her industry and gracious personality have won her a wide circle of friends from all parts of Clark County. She has been unusually capable in the many intricate clerical duties of the treasurer's office and has gained an envious record for efficiency. The groom is a young man of fine character and highly regarded by all his acquaintances. He is employed by the Levy Bros. Commission merchants of Milwaukee.

Mrs. Art Wagner played Lohengrin's wedding march at the church. The matron of honor was Mrs. Merill Gault, sister of the bride, and Jack Hughes, brother of the groom, was best man.

The bride wore a gown of satin and angel skin lace, with long sleeves and V neck. She carried a bouquet of white gladioli and lilies of the valley. The matron of honor wore a costume of pink flowered chiffon with pink hat and carried pink roses tied with a green satin ribbon.

A wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride's parents, after which they left on a honeymoon trip.

Miss Mary Rude, county treasurer, and Mr. and Mrs. Thorwald Christofferson, were the only guests outside the family circle.
