Marjorie Schmidt, age 74, of Neillsville, formerly of Loyal, died at 1 p.m. Sat. Aug. 12, 2000, at the Memorial Nursing Home in Neillsville.

Marjorie June Schmidt was born on June 1, 1926 in the Town of Saxville, Waushara County, WI, daughter of Lyman Leroy and Daphane Pearl (Blackman) Chase. As a young child, her family moved to Neillsville, where she attended and graduated from Neillsville High School.

After graduation, Marjorie worked as a beautician in Neillsville. On Aug. 24, 1945 she was united in marriage to Henry Schmidt in Neillsville. They moved to Loyal in 1947, where they farmed until 1994 when they retired, sold the farm and moved to Neillsville. Throughout her lifetime, Marjorie held various other jobs in the Neillsville area. While living in Loyal, Marjorie was a lifelong member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and was currently a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Neillsville. She enjoyed music, dancing and playing cards.

Surviving Marjorie is her husband, Henry of Neillsville; two sons, Jack (Pam) of Loyal and Jerry of Neillsville; three daughters, Jill (Harold) Grossbier of Onalaska, Jana Lee Snyder and June (Roger) Erickson of Neillsville; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a grand daughter-in-law, Yvette.

Preceding Marjorie in death is one daughter, Jean Schmidt; a granddaughter, Tonya; two grandsons, Perry and Trent and her parents.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wed. Aug. 16, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Neillsville. The celebrant will be Rev. Woodrow Pace. The commentator will be Steve Mabie. Ronald Resong, organist, with Rita Kuchenbecker, soloist, and St. Mary's Adult Choir, shall provide the music. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Wednesday at the church.

Honorary casket bearers are her grandchildren: Tony Erickson, Tyler Erickson, Melissa Schmidt, Kip Schmidt, Robin Sischo, Adam Snyder and April Snyder. Casket bearers are her grandsons: Travis Erickson, Tayt Grossbier, Troy Grossbier, Chad Schmidt, Corey Schmidt and Philip Schmidt.

The Gesche Funeral Home assisted Marjorie's family with arrangements.
