NEAL ‘FUZZY' FERO

Neal Fero, age 68, of Granton died Dec. 25, 2002, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

Neal was born Jan. 12, 1933, in the village of Granton to Lyle and Norma (Poarth) Fero. He graduated from Granton High School in 1951.

Neal served his country in the U.S. Army in Korea with the military police.

He married Margaret Depratt on Nov. 2, 1957 at Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church.

He was employed as a tool and dye maker for 36 years at Briggs and Stratton in Milwaukee until his retirement in 1987. Neal then returned to the town of Grant.

Neal enjoyed hunting in Alaska, Canada and the western United States. He was a member of the Richmond-Haugen American Legion Post 73. He served as board member for the Granton Sportsman Club and the Wisconsin Wildlife Federation.

Surviving Neal is his wife, Margaret; his children, Brian (Barbara) of Colgate and Sandy (Carl) Pollnow of Waukesha; two granddaughters, Christine Fero and Clarissa Slama; and one sister Betty Lou Ayala of Franklin Park, IL; many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Neal in death are his parents and a sister, Jean Poarth.

Funeral services for Neal were held Dec. 29 at Buchanan Funeral Home in Neillsville. Rev. John Trewyn officiated. The Richmond-Haugen American Legion Post 73 performed the military rites.

Pallbearers were Eldon Helm, Fritz Garbisch, Bud Schier, Nick Ayala, Jim Doleschy and Jim Nichols.

Memorials May be sent to the palliative Care and Hospice Units at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.
