Wenzel, Genevieve A. (26 Feb. 1918 - 20 March 2005)

Genevieve A. Wenzel, 87, of DeKalb, Ill., formerly of Auburndale, died unexpectedly, Sunday, March 20, 2005, at St Anthony's Hospital in Rockford, Ill.

Funeral services will be at 11a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2005, at Hansen Funeral Home. The Rev. Mark Krueger will officiate. Special music will be provided by Anne Gatzke. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery. Friends May call from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Genevieve was born Feb. 26, 1918, in Marathon County, a daughter of Carl and Minnie (Theide) Eggebrecht. She graduated from Colby High School.

The former Genevieve Eggebrecht was united in marriage to Henry Wenzel on Jan. 31, 1940. Henry preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 1970.

She was a homemaker and mother who took great pleasure in sewing and cooking for her family. Genevieve's specialty was meatballs with gravy.

Because of ill health, Genevieve went live with her daughter, Jane, in DeKalb, Ill. Genevieve loved giving special attention to the many kitties Jane cared for.

Jane's loving care was truly a blessing to Genevieve and deeply appreciated by the rest of the family.ÊÊ She is survived by her children, Jerry (Sandi) Wenzel, Tucson, Ariz., Marjorie (Gary) Glick, Genoa, Jane (Steve Keegan) Kosek, DeKalb, Ill.; grandchildren, Roxane Wenzel, Aaron (Margie) Rice, Christopher (Leigh) Gatzke, Anne Gatzke and Gretchen (John) Moran; and seven great-grandchildren, Jaylen and Riley Gatzke, Janae, Nathaniel, Daren, Jesse and Amanda Moran. Genevieve is further survived by one sister, Eleanor Aschenbrenner, Marshfield, and one brother, Oakley (Marge) Eggebrecht, Marshfield.

She also was preceded in death by a stepson, Darrell; her parents; two brothers, Dale and Darrell; and a sister, Alberta.
