OWEN - William "Bill" Engel, 94, Owen, died at his residence on Wednesday, March 17, 2004, where he had resided the past 17 years.

A memorial service for Bill will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 27, 2004, at United Church of Christ in Owen. The Rev. John Eldred will officiate. Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Withee.

Visitation with family and friends will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at United Church of Christ.

Maurina Funeral Home of Owen assisted the family with arrangements.

William Engel was born on Sept. 27,1909, in North Hampton, Miss., the son of John and Wilhelmina (Pencek) Engel. Bill and the former Ethel Funk were united in marriage in June of 1938 in Withee. They farmed and raised their family in the town of Longwood. Bill was employed for 24 years with the former Teledyne Post Company in Owen, where he took pride in his work as a set-up sample worker. Bill enjoyed woodworking and crafts, designing and building furniture for family and friends. He also traveled throughout the United States, Mexico and Canada. His love was for dancing, music and flowers. He was an active member of United Church of Christ, and a volunteer in the community, Owen Senior Citizens Club and at the Clark County Health Care Center.

He will be dearly missed by his children, son Roger (Judy) Engel of Withee; two daughters, Charlotte (Mark) Photenhauer of Menominee, Mich., and Carol (Mickey) Jensen of Green Bay; four grandchildren, Richard Engel, Lisa and David Photenhauer, and Jill Margraf; his brother, Otto (VI) Engel of Withee; and special friend, Marge Ackerman of Owen. Preceded in death by his parents; wife Ethel Engel on April 30,1999; one brother, Edward Engel on April 6, 2001; and two sisters, Anna Lang and Tillie Engel.

The family would like to thank the Marshfield Home Hospice for their care, kindness and dedication to Bill and his family.
