Cheese Factory Accounts (1916)
Contact: June Wittwer
Pictured below is page 3 of the business ledger for the Braun Settlement Cheese Factory which was owned by my father, Theodore Braun. This old account book begins in 1916 and ends in 1921. It lists the quanity of milk provided by each patron as well as the butterfat it contained. In these days, each farmer delivered their own milk by horse and wagon. Many of the "Patrons" also purchased the processed butter, cream and cheese from the factory. The accounts show the deductions for these sales from the farmer's monthly check.
Those listed on this page are: R. Horn, H. Damrow, Ed. Braun, W. F. Miller, F. Braun, A. Wessel, Theo. Miller, J. Speich, P. Wessel, A. Seibold, Wm. Braun, O. Horn, F. Buker, H. Woepse, S. W. Sturtz, Ed. Giesler, J. Miller, Wm. Franze, W. Alberstett, J. Metcalf, J. Volrath and C. Wayne.
