Hiles, John (22 AUG 1848 - 23 Feb 1919)

John Hiles, after a lingering illness, died at his home at Granton, Clark County, Wis. Last Sunday afternoon, Feb. 23, 1919, of heart trouble.

Deceased was born in Perry Co., Ohio, Aug. 22, 1848. He was married to Miss Adeline Gillet at Viroqua, Wis., on Jan. 2, 1871. In 1900 Mr. and Mrs. Hiles came to this city, living here about five years. Mr. Hiles was in the employ of the Upham Mfg. Company until 1905 when he accepted a position as guard in the state prison at Waupun. After spending a few years at the work he located at Granton, where he owned and operated various farms.

He is survived by his wife, four sons, Otto of Neillsville, Charles W. of Omaha, Neb., Lloyd H. of Chicago, Harold of Spencer, and by one daughter, Mrs. John Martin of Milwaukee, and by seven grandchildren.
