F. R. CHAPMAN, proprietor of Merchant's House, Black River Falls, Wisconsin. Was born Jan. 16, 1828, in Ohio. Came to Wisconsin in 1847. and located in Racine County on a farm. Staid there for two years, then returned to Ohio, remaining there four years. Came to Black River Falls, Wis., in the Spring of 1853, and engaged in lumbering and farming until 1879, when he bought the hotel where he now is. Has been Assessor in the town of Albion, Town Clerk and Chairman of Town Supervisors. Was married, in 1845, to Sarah, "Sally" Nichols; she was born in Ohio, Aug. 7, 1827. They have four children—Marshall J., Sarah F., Eveneene and Clara.
