Strong, Myrtle (24 APR 1879)

Married, on Thursday, the 24th inst., at the residence of Mr. N. J. White, by H. J. Blanchard, Esq., Mr. James P. White of this village (Colby, Clark Co., Wis.), and Miss Myrtle Strong of Tomah, Monroe Co.

The consummation of the above took the village somewhat by surprise, not that anyone had any idea that Put. Was going to live an "old Batch" all his life, oh no, in the language of the phrenologist that couldn’t was, but Put. Was so all fired sly about it. Last fall when he went down the line everybody said Put. Had gone to get married, but we knew better. We knew that he would not do anything of that sort without telling us, and he didn’t. When the lady came to visit her sister, no one thought that it was a put up job, well calculated to deceive, but Put. And Myrtle knew what they were about, and kept their own counsel, (of course it was all right enough to let the editor into the secret,) and when the people see Horace with his store clothes on, a copy of the revised statutes under one arm and roll of white paper under the other, meandering over towards N.J.’s tey had no idea what was up, and when the report got out that Put. White was married there were many who would not believe it, but Horace and our self assured them that he was married good and Strong.

The happy couple has the best wishes of the community at large, and the Phonograph in particular. May your path through life be strewn with "white" roses, "strong" in fragrance.
