Frey, Harriet S. (19 March 1920 – 9 February 2021)

Harriet S. Frey, age 100, formerly of Withee, passed away at the Aspirus Medford Hospital on Tuesday, February 9, 2021.

Harriet was born on March 19, 1920, the eldest of six children of Fern and Mary (Dietrick) Harms in Withee. She was the only child to graduate from high school. She graduated from Owen High School and attended Bible College in St. Paul, MN. Harriet was united in marriage to Harold Frey on November 3, 1940 in Owen. He preceded her in death on May 28, 1996. Together they farmed in the Town of Hoard and raised three children, retiring in 1980. She lived her whole life in the Owen-Withee area.

Harriet accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at the age of 15. She was a charter member of Community Alliance Church and served her Lord and church in a variety of ways including Sunday School Superintendent at age 15, youth group, VBS and supporting missionaries. The church and music have always been a part of her life. Harriet also enjoyed quilting, knitting, sewing and fishing and made an amazing fried chicken.

Harriet is survived by her children: Keith (Jeanne) of Chippewa Falls and Kathleen Bartosiak of Medford; a daughter-in-law, Cala Frey of Dorchester; nine grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her sister, Maxine Frey of Medford, many nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and Buddy the cat.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Ken; a son-in-law, Robert; four siblings: Myreeah, Max, Fern Jr. and Carl.
