Miss Mercedes Glass daughter of Mrs. Fred Stelloh, was married Sunday at 1 p.m. to Horace V. Ballam, Milwaukee, the ceremony taking place at the bride’s home with Rev. E. H. Vornholt officiating. Mr. Ballam is the son of Mrs. Clara Ballam of Marshfield.

The bride is a graduate of the Neillsville High school and attended the Teachers’ college at Stevens Point. She is a young lady of refinement and enjoys an exceptionally large circle of friends. She possesses a rare talent as an artist and has been successful in this field of commercial art. Among the things she has done in this field are illustrations for book publishers, letterheads, posters and magazine work.

The groom is highly spoken of as a man of fine character and ability. He is a graduate of the engineering department of the University of Wisconsin and is employed by the Kramp and Fehr Construction Company of Milwaukee, at present engaged in the construction of the Jones Island sewerage disposal project.

After the ceremony a wedding dinner was served for immediate relatives of the families at the home of the bride. The couple left Sunday night for Milwaukee where they will make their home.

**This is her 2nd marriage - 1st marriage was to Mr. Viertel in 1926.

Stevens Point , Wisconsin Central State Teachers' College

In 1927 Stevens Point Normal School became Central State Teachers College and began offering four-year teaching degrees. When post-World War II enrollment became less centered on teacher training and more focused on liberal arts education, the Wisconsin State Legislature intervened, elevating the school to a Wisconsin State College with the authority to grant bachelor's degrees in liberal arts.
