Clouse, Sarah (15 DEC 1858 - 2 Jan 1931)

Sarah Clouse, nee Rogers, was born in Moore County, Minnesota, Dec. 15th, 1858 and departed this life January 2nd 1931 at the home of daughter Mrs. Lawrence Bowman, having attained the age of seventy two years and eighteen days.

March 21st 1880 she was united in marriage to Frank Clouse, who preceded her on death a little over three years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Clouse lived together in wedlock a little over 47 years. To this union seven children were born, six of whom survive their mother. They are: Fred L. of Loyal, Wis.; Wallace J. of Antigo Wis., Ernest B. of Greenwood Wis., Mrs. Clarence Dunn, Mrs. Ben Kadolph and Mrs. Lawrence Bowman of Loyal. A daughter Mrs. C. W. Smith preceded her departure. Two brothers and four sisters also survive her, namely: Mrs. Hulda Palmer of Chicago, Ill.; Isiah Rogers of Estherville Iowa; Mrs. John Clow, of Milwaukee, Wis.; Alphius of Rock Island Ill and Mrs. Joe Burley of Melrose Wis., also 16 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and other relatives and many friends.

Mrs. Clouse was a devoted wife , loving mother, kind neighbor and a noble CHRISTIAN. Mrs. Clouse has been a loyal and faithful member of the Methodist Episcopal Church for many years. Ill health has prevented her church attendance recently, but the Pastor has kept in touch with her, and recently Communed with her. She broke up her home in Loyal and on April 21 1930 she went to live with her daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Bowman, where she resided until her death. She will be greatly miss by her relatives and friends.

Labor and sorrows cease;

And life’s long warfare closed at last,

Her soul is found in peace.

Soldier of Christ, well done!

Praise be thy new employ!

And while eternal ages run, Rest in thy Savior’s joy,"

The funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon, January 5th 1931 from the Bowman residence at 1:00 P.M. and the Methodist Episcopal Church at 1:30. Rev. Vern C. Kegley, Pastor officiating. Interment was made in the Pine Grove cemetery beside her husband.
