Miller, Joan Catherine (1 Oct. 1934 - 18 April 2004)

THORP - Joan C. Miller, 69, of Thorp died April 18, 2004, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Bernard's-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. Rosary Service, Tuesday at Thorp Funeral Home.

Joan Miller

THORP - Joan C. Miller, 69, Thorp, died Sunday, April 18, 2004, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Bernard's-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church. The Rev. John Puerner officiated. Burial was in new St. Hedwig's Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Connie Walsh, Jeff Hedler, Jim Solie, Steven Whirry, Sara Whirry and Scott Whirry.

Visitation was from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. rosary service Tuesday at Thorp Funeral Home.

Joan Catherine Hedler was born Oct. 1, 1934, in Thorp to Leo and Mary (Tobola) Hedler. She attended St. Bernard's Catholic School and graduated from Thorp High School in 1952. After high school, Joan enrolled in flight attendant school in Minneapolis. She was united in marriage to Phillip N. Miller on Sept. 8, 1956, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church. They lived in Milwaukee, where Joan worked for General Motors Missile Division on the Titan missile project. They then moved to New York in 1962, where she worked for the state legislature. In 1968, the couple moved to West Virginia and then returned to Thorp in 1970, where Joan resided until the time of her death.

She had many interests including quilting, sewing, gardening, working in her yard, skiing, fishing and golf. She was a member of St. Bernard's-St. Hedwig's PCCW.

She will be sadly missed by her husband, Phillip Miller of Thorp; two daughters, Catherine Stuttgen of Vesper and Suzanne (John) Voros of Marshfield; four grandchildren, Caitlin and Cortni Stuttgen and Hannah and Neil Voros; five siblings, Jerome (Donna) Hedler of Colfax, Jacqueline Soli of Sheboygan Falls, Janet (Brian) Solie of Stanley, Mary Jane (Lawrence) Ciolkosz of Plymouth and Joyce (Vern) Whirry of Eau Claire. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter, Alexandria Joan Voros.

Memorials May be directed to Saint Joseph's Hospital Foundation (Marshfield) TLC Bereavement in memory of Alexandria Joan Voros.

Our loving wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt and friend will leave a void in our hearts. She touched all of us and left a legacy that not many can match. We will miss her dearly - until we meet again.
