Schmitz, Gloria M. (28 Sept. 1942 - 27 June 2005)

SPENCER -Gloria M. Schmitz, age 62, of Spencer, died Monday, June 27, 2005, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 30, 2005, at Hansen Funeral Home in Marshfield. The Rev. Daryn Bahn will officiate. Jeri Hitchcock will provide music with Darwin Frey serving as soloist. Burial will be in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Spencer.

Pallbearers will be Gloria's brothers, Wayne, Douglas, Neil, Garth and Allen Rasmussen and her nephew and godson, Kevin Rasmussen.

Friends May call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to service time Thursday, both at the funeral home.

Gloria was born on Sept. 28, 1942, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, a daughter of Theodore and Mae Elizabeth (Williams) Rasmussen. She attended Marshfield schools and graduated from Marshfield High School.

On Sept. 9, 1961, the former Gloria Rasmussen was united in marriage to Gary Krasselt. Gary passed away on May 6, 1976. Gloria was united in marriage to Gary Schmitz at Christ Lutheran Church in Chili on July 8, 1978. She and Gary made their home in the town of Sherman.

Gloria worked at Figi's in the credit department for 17 years, retiring as assistant supervisor in January of this year.

Gloria was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Chili. She was the president of the Salem Lutheran Cemetery Board, enjoyed collecting dolls, gardening and yard work. Gloria was known to take out a hammer and nails to fix things. She enjoyed spending time with friends and co-workers and watching golf on TV but she most especially loved her family and cherished her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Gary; her children, Kendall (Lori) Krasselt, Loyal, Shawn (Andy) Braun, Spencer, Troy Krasselt, Wausau, Todd (Paula) Krasselt, Loyal, and Cory (Joanne) Krasselt, Marathon. Gloria is further survived by her five brothers, Wayne (Charlotte) Rasmussen, Marshfield, Douglas (Marlene) Rasmussen, Marshfield, Neil (Jan) Rasmussen, Fond du Lac, Garth (Delores) Rasmussen, Racine, Allen (Donna) Rasmussen, Nekoosa; one sister, Charlotte Wilson, Aurora, Colo.; and by nine grandchildren, Mindy and Kyle Krasselt, Dustin, Lindsay and Courtney Braun, Alec and Amanda Krasselt and Casey and Cullen Krasselt.

Her parents, first husband and two brothers, Richard and Donovan Rasmussen, preceded Gloria in death.
