Johnson, Peter William (8 March 1937- 21 June 2005)

CURTISS, WIS. - Peter William Johnson, 68, Curtiss, died Tuesday, June 21, 2005, as the result of a semi truck accident in Henry County, Ind.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2005, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Curtiss. The Rev. Curt Rohland will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery in Curtiss with full military honors. Pallbearers will be Dennis Krueger, Rod Hawks, Neil Mueller, Brian Johnson and two members of the Curtiss Fire Department. Honorary pallbearer will be Arlan Utke.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Maurina Funeral Home in Abbotsford and from 10 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the church.

Peter was born on March 8, 1937, in Ogema to Howard and Louise (Eckert) Johnson. He attended Sunny Side Grade School and was a 1955 graduate of Prentice High School. Peter and Ida Mae Seiffert were married on Aug. 27, 1960, in Ogema. He worked for the Westboro Cheese Factory and entered the U.S. Army on Sept. 1, 1960, for three years.

He then worked for Laabs Cheese Factory and then Packaging Corporation until 1980, when he joined the Army National Guard full time. In 1994, he started driving truck for Bauer Trucking of Medford. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and church council, Owen-Withee Curtiss Fire Department, OW American Legion, Curtiss Lions Club and was village clerk and treasurer for 30 years.

Peter is survived by his wife, Ida Mae of Curtiss; his children, William (Liz) Johnson of Los Alamos, N.M., Lyle (Katie) Johnson of Colby, Jennifer (Ronald) Habermeyer of Phillips and Kimberly (Donald) Hederer of Abbotsford; eight grandchildren; one sister, Jean (Randall) Kilty of Ogema; and three brothers, Clement (Patty) Johnson of Medford, Kenneth (Suzy) Johnson of Grantsburg and Leo (Joyce) Johnson of Ogema.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, George Johnson.
